Signature for posts including a link to a thread within the Norton Forums

Hello,

Following these instructions, I’ve tried to create a signature for my posts including a link to a thread here in the forums, but it didn’t work.

I’m not sure if  it’s my mistake or if instead links are not allowed in posts’ signatures. Does anyone know?

Thanks,

Laura

Hi Laura

Try creating or copying the link you want into the Rich Text box. Then go to the HTML tab and copy the HTML code. Then paste that into the Signature box in your settings.

One thing to remember is that if your signature is too long, the bottom line(s) will not appear in your posts.

Hi peterweb,

I think I should have better explained myself: I did create the signature including the link, but what didn’t work was the link – I went to a post of mine showing the newly created signature, but the link didn’t work, clicking it didn’t take to anything. That’s why I thought that perhaps links are not allowed/accepted in posts’ signatures, therefore I canceled the signature and posted here to find out.

Thanks,

Laura

I just played with this and was able to get a link to work.

Try using this code...insert your link instead of norton.com

<a target="_blank" href="http://www.norton.com">www.norton.com</a>

Hi Peter,

Thanks a lot for taking the time to try to find a solution for my problem.

Before following your suggestion I did again what I'had done yesterday to make sure it hadn't been my mistake, and this time it worked (as you can see :smileywink:)!  Therefore, yesterday I must have made a mistake somewhere  :smileyembarrassed:

Thanks again,

Laura :smileyhappy:

If at first you do not succeed, try again, and again, and......

Glad to see you got it.

Lol! Just heaving a sigh of relief over here that the instructions I wrote up (long ago, too!) were not faulty after all! ;-))

Glad they worked for you the second time around :-D

Laura,

A small presentation modification I'd suggest since I clicked on the first part of that line and nothing happened (I'm so used to active links):

Missing the Local Vault? http://community.norton.com/t5/Product-Suggestions/Please-Return-The-Local-Vault/td-p/978289

Peter, your suggestion confirming that it was possible to include a link convinced me that most likely I had done something wrong in following the instructions, and in fact …

Thanks again,

Laura

Hi,

Instructions are not faulty at all, but the user sometimes is… :smileylol:

Thank you,

Laura

Hugh,  you are absolutely right, done!

Thanks,

Personally I'd change the Missing the Local Vault? to Missing the Local Vault? so that it contrasts with the red URL and actually draws more focus on the line.

You do this by highlighting the words and then clicking on the down arrowhead alongside the A on the toolbar and then on the color you want
