Hi NeilAsh:
No Problem!
Actually, I agree with Floplot's post, but it does take time to remediate if there is a problem.
Anyway, you want to submit the entire Skype.exe file to VirusTotal, which should be in your Program Files folder
on your boot (i.e. "C" drive") or you can download it to your desktop and then submit it from there.
Let us know.
Thanks,
Atomic_Blast :)
P.S. If you wish to continue with the procedure which I have outlined above, it can't hurt, IMHO. Submit the file first, though.
Just did that tryed skype, it worked, scanned it and theirs still a virus
i dont understand how a virus just magically reappears when i uninstall and install skype again..
just analyzed it virus total says their is no virus on the exe
Hi NeilAsh:
We need to ensure that the file is absolutely not infected and is indeed a False Positive.
Per my post #11 above, there might be a possibility that it is.
Thus VirusTotal will check it in realtime and see what other AV softwares have to say on it.
So please try that first (submitting the file) and kindly post back with the results.
We will be here!

Hi NeilAsh:
Nothing, huh?
Try going with the NIS 2012 Remove and Reinstall, as posted above in message #19.
Let us know your result, OK?
Thanks,
Atomic_Blast :)
BTW - What is the filesize on the Skype.exe file, since there is a 10 MB limit on the Websubmit of a Suspect Infected File?

Just thought i'd say, i just checked my security history and the trojan did go to other files also (I already fixed those files though) submitting the file to virustotal now.
Hey NeilAsh:
I thought that you had already submitted the Skype.exe to VirusTotal?
Please clarify for us, thanks.
Atomic_Blast :)
I did submit it the it said skype had no virus, but the first time this virus came to my computer it also went onto other programs (Which i fixed so there is no longer a virus on them) I just want to know if this virus is like a mistake and norton just thinks there is a virus or if this virus is from skype and is going to spread all around my computer if i run skype. sorry for being confusing :( also is their a way i can just totally remove these files from my quarintine (Like just totally delete them)
Hi NeilAsh:
Please do this first...
Then, per my post #4...
"With Administrator level access, please perform the following:"
"I would suggest clearing your NIS 2012 Full Security History, which will also delete the contents of Quarantine.
(History is available for access under the Advanced view in the NIS interface.)"
Kindly proceed with the Norton 2012 remove and reinstall, as previously instructed and let's see what happens.
Thanks again.
Atomic_Blast :)
Just reinstalled, no virus detected while on skype :) you're the best thanks so much for helping me :D
Hi NeilAsh:
I'm very pleased to see your post!
It looks like something in NIS might have been corrrupt/setting changed/other.
Should you wish to help us further...
It would be appreciated if you could mark the post suggesting the reinstall as the actual Solution.
This would be very beneficial as other users could learn from this experience, should it happen again.
Here's how to do that:
