Hi rnuis,
Did you have any other security software installed before installing NIS 2010? Or did you upgrade from a previous version of NIS to NIS 2010?
Before i have hat Eset Smart security and now i’am testing NIS2010. Does Norton scan my downloads if i put firefox too trusted in de firewall settings?
The slow-down may be because you still have some remainders of Eset gumming up the works, if you did not remove it using the appropriate removal tool. Norton scans all downloads to protect your computer, but does not cause a noticeable slow-down. The Eset would have done the same thing. It is not the firewall doing the scanning, it is the auto-protect feature, the actual antivirus component that does the scanning. It is necessary.
But does NIS 2010 scan my downloads with firfox if i put the settings in the configure menu too trusted instead of automatic?

Hi rnuis,
If I have understood you correctly, then there is a freeze when downloaded files are scanned in Firefox?
No when i download it’s very slow in downloading speed then it was before
Hi rnuis
I would first get the removal tool for that Eset antivirus program you had before and run that removal tool. If you had left overs from your previous security program still in your computer, that may have intereferred with the installation of your NIS 2010 program. That may be the reason for the slowdown. I know this was mentioned before in the thread, but it looks like maybe the OP skipped that post.

FWIW I only have NIS 2010 installed on my system and had no other non-Norton product before it was installed. I just ran a series of tests with http://speedtest.net/ on a local server and there is no significant difference in results with firewall and autoprotect enabled or disabled, including only having one of the two enabled.
So it would be good to look for other causes but you may like to check that speedtest -- one of many but I like the presentation and that I can access a local server.
See what suggestions others make about cleaning out all traces of Norton and the other product using the special tools each has and then reinstall NIS 2010 and check the difference.
That should not be, as NIS does not scan web traffic “on the fly”. Sounds like a conflict with ESET remnants, perhaps.
Hi rnuis,
Firefox calls for a scan of every download by whatever antivirus program is installed on the user's PC. It is not uncommon for this to cause the download to hang or take an unusually long time to complete. It sounds as if this may be your problem. Mozilla provides instructions to disable this feature in Firefox in this article:
Just FYI, the scan happens after the download completes so if the actual download speed you observe is slow, this may not be your issue. If the overall process to complete the download seems slow, however, this could be the cause.
the strange thing is that it only downloads slow at rapidshare i just tested other sites and there it downloads normal

Lots of reports on the internet of slow downloads at Rapidshare, so this is most likely them, not you.
Don’t worry, then. It’s almost certainly Rapidshare that is having problem with slow servers, if that’s the only place you are experiencing slowdowns.
Hi
Is RapidShare one of those P2P sites? If it is, then it is probably that type of site which makes your NIS work so hard to make sure what you are getting from those types of sites is clean.
There is malware on RapidShare, but you don’t automatically download malware from RapidShare or get infected by downloading other things. Very big difference. RapidShare itself is not malicious.
