Norton download manager does-not have a simple function that every download manager has!!! Does-not save downloads!!! if an error happens while your download is 96% it starts all over again!!! this happened thrice while downloading northern internet security!!!!
If you want to upgrade nav 2011.save your key to safe place
download nis 2011 here and save it to your hard disk
www.norton.com/nis11
uninstall norton from control panel then run nis 2011 installer after that activate though your existing license
run live update rapidly until no update are available
Do you have an unexpired KEY to use? Is it for more than one PC?
Do you have any security software on your Desktop? If so what is it? You may have to remove it before installing the downloaded NIS but you don't have to uninstall Norton from the laptop if you use that to download the single installation file you have been given the link to.
Hi CarolinaCane,
Welcome to the Norton Community. Regarding being able to install NIS without downloading. We can give you a link to download the latest version of NIS 2011 onto your laptop from a wi-fi location. You can then use it to install on your desktop.
However this will not really solve your problem, though it will certainly help. Even though the link we give you is the latest available version, the definitions and other things update constantly so you will still have a pretty large Live Update session you will need to run once NIS is installed and that has to be done on each computer.
There is also what is called "Intelligent Updater" which could be also downloaded on the laptop and used to update NIS on the desktop. This will help bring the definitions up to date but it is not a cure all because the Intelligent updater only handles the Anti-Virus definitions and there are quite a few other definitions and other updates which also need to be downloaded.
If there is any way you can take the desktop to an internet cafe with a cabled setup you could update the desktop that way.
Once the initial set of live updates are completed after installation, the rest of the updates from them are typically fairly small except for the occasional program updates where new versions are rolled out. These can be fairly large as well. There are about 4 or so of these on average each year.
Before we go through the procedure of doing all this, as Hugh stated do you have a product key which you already purchased?
Best wishes.
Allen
