Small blocks obscure my photos = marks for backup files - how to eliminate them

I downloaded photos from my phone. They were obscured by small blue blocks with arrows. A Google search said that they are markers for Norton backup. How can I make them go away?
I have tried repeatedly to restrict Norton Backup to a very small file set; but that is impossible. I don’t want Norton to backup thousands of photos. So, am I stuck with this?
If so, then I guess that I will have to drop Norton completely.

Hello @MichaelS_Schmotzer
and you’re Norton 360 for Windows v22.x?
and you’ve turned off Backup Status Overlays? [here]

Norton 360 Classic view → Settings → Backup Settings → Backup Status Overlays → Off → Apply

I thought Norton Cloud Backup is available only on Windows [here]
lets ask @peterweb

This should not be related to the phone. The OP has transferred the photos from the phone to their Windows computer.

I have not seen a Norton overlay like the one in the OP’s image. The backup overlays are usually blue (pending backup) or green (file has been backed up).

Thanks for the reply. At various times, the overlays have been blue or green. I keep playing with the backup settings in Norton; but it doesn’t change anything. The backup settings make no sense at all.

I finally resolved the problem by deleting all files in the cloud backup and turning off all files for backup. i.e. shutting down the entire backup system. I’ll just continue to back up all files to a portable disc drive and store it in a fireproof box.
I’m not sure that I really get any value from Norton vs the hassles they have caused. Sorry, just getting negative here.
