Issue abstract: Starting a few weeks ago, I have been blocked from the DeepL site where the advanced translations are made. It appears to be blocked by Smart Firewall.

Detailed description:

Product & version number: Norton 360 Standard. The problem is with the program Deepl.exe Pro, v. 26.5.1

OS details: Windows 11 Pro

Note: Your site is rejecting any uploads of jpg screenshots. However, this email from the company describes the error messages and the company’s suggested solution:

***************************************************************

The primary error in the log file is ERR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED (code -138) every time the app tries to reach https:// www. deepl. com:443. This is what’s causing the “ERR_FAILED” screen in the screenshot. Alongside this, the app is also failing to resolve DNS for s. deepl. com (“No such host is known”) and appdownload. deepl. com (“The remote name could not be resolved”), which appear in the log files as well.

If you are using a work laptop, please ask your iT department to whitelist the following domains:

*.app.deepl.com (wildcard to cover your organization’s custom subdomain)

*.sso.deepl.com

[other similar domains not listed here]

******************************************

If I turn off Smart Firewall, I can connect to Deepl. I have tried allowing DeepL in SmartFirewall/Program Control. There are four instances of DeepL appearing. I have edited them all to all in/out and all protocols. No joy with that.

What can I do?
