Smart scan concerns

I am currently running the gamers version of Norton 360 and smart scan has now appeared. My concern is with the advanced section of the scan. It found junk file errors etc which can only be resolved apparently by purchased a $49.99 premium service from Norton. Strangely using Norton utilities also found a similar number of similar errors and resolved them but after re-running smart scan they were still there. This situation reminds me of the scam malware detectors that falsely report problems in order to prove you need their product. I am sure that those gullible enough to spend the money on the premium service will find smart scan discovers similar errors again just a few days down the line!.

Why can't Norton leave the program as it is as most people on this forum seem to be fairly happy with it. Similarly with on Norton crypto. Each of these 'new' functions is gradually starting to obscure all of the main interface.

I have the Smart Scan Feature and I do ignore it.

I find it is not very useful and not particularly well designed. I thought initially that the network scanning would find any other devices on the network but it only seems to check the network for encryption and password.

I do not have the Smart Scan feature yet. So others may be able to enlighten this thread. But from the threads I have seen on this new feature, it sounds like it is one that is best ignored.

The descriptions under each flagged category give some hints but which startup programs are considered unnecessary should be shown. I have also used Windows built in utilities to try and resolve junk and temp file issues but Smart scan still finds them. Norton need to provide more clarity on how to fix the flagged issues without expensive premium services. The program is starting to become one giant upsell.

You have to be sure you read the messages carefully. The suggested paid services are not necessary to complete the scan's functions. Again the marketing department is running the show with Norton products. no
