Smart Scan Not Included in New Download

I purchased a new Norton 360 Premium from Amazon. Been using Norton for at least 25 years, so familiar with the product. Used Norton Removal Tool to remove expired subscription product. Went to Norton website, signed in and registered new 360 version 22.23.10.10. No problems with install but there is no longer a Smart Scan anywhere to be found. Not among the scan options. Only the usual options for Quick, Full, two custom options. Quick Scan comes up automatically. I have since used the Norton Removal Tool to take out the programming and went back to the account page and reinstalled through the Download option. But, again, no Smart Scan. So, I am wondering if Norton has removed the Smart Scan from retail packages and only now includes it in the ongoing subscription versions that are about 2-3 times more costly. Can anyone tell me if there is a solution to getting back the Smart Scan or is it only available now through Norton rather than a retail version? FWIW, I have installed the new package on both my desktop still running Win7 and my laptop running Win10, but no Smart Scan on either one.

I still do not have Private Browser listed on my dashboard. Not that I want it but just curious...

As with our previous updates, this version is being released in a phased manner.

As is our standard practice, we are deploying the patch in a phased manner. We have released the patch to randomly selected customers, and will then monitor our telemetry, as well as this forum, for any problems or issues. Once we have confirmed the effectiveness of the patch, we will make it available to all customers. We will post an update on the Norton Community when we make the patch available to all customers.

Yes we all surrender to the magical power of Norton. Makes you wonder doesn't it?

Congratulations! Hope it stays that way.
My Smart Scan returned after a week like a magic trick disappearing and then reappearing for no reason I can come up with. Sometimes I just do not understand...

Yeah, my dust collector machine with EAP 22.24.1.6 has Smart Scan.  I just do not understand...

Just updated to latest 22.24.1.6, no Smart Scan.  Been wondering myself if it will just pop back in one day.

How is this even possible?

Interesting, thanks.  I don't have that option on either computer.

That's no surprise about different distributions bmj but with the same key I have Smart Scan on my laptop, both Win 11.  I had not checked anything in a few days, today checked and have no Smart Scan.  Ran Live update, have 22.24.1.3 now, did a restart and still nothing.  For me its a minor issue so I'm not going to sweat it, but it is odd.

Smart Scan missing here:

as test: New EAP 22.24.1.3 [EAP Channel] 22.24.1.3 has Smart Scan (at this time).

Maybe, Smart Scan missing is with subscription through Amazon.

fwiw ~ Norton may offer retailers in the U.S. the opportunity to distribute specially configured solutions from Norton that may not be available through Norton.com.

Correct, 15 mos.  Ran Diagnostic report, shows no issues.  Everything is working good other than missing Smart Scan, other scans work fine.

Great!...Thanks for sharing.

Correct, no Smart Scan at all; no buttons or menu items in either window.  I have the exact same key on my laptop, it has Smart Scan.  I check 'About' on both and they match, ver 22.23.10.10, and the SKUs match.  Both are Win 11 with latest updates, yep Live Update is latest on both.

So, both machines have Norton from Amazon.
Machine A has Smart Scan.
Machine B does not have Smart Scan.
Did you get extra 3 months?  15 month first term?

Correct, no Smart Scan at all; no buttons or menu items in either window.  I have the exact same key on my laptop, it has Smart Scan.  I check 'About' on both and they match, ver 22.23.10.10, and the SKUs match.  Both are Win 11 with latest updates, yep Live Update is latest on both.  Big difference was, when I setup the new key subscription on the laptop, I had no issues at all.  On the desktop, 1st one I updated key on, it had some odd error; something like the software doesn't match or such.  It was downhill from there, could not sign-on to my account although it showed the correct Active subscription.  I uninstalled with the tool numerous times and reinstalled.  Even deleted all the Norton files/folders & Registry items after the 3rd uninstall I think.  Still failed Sign-on, server error it would say.  Not sure when I noticed Smart scan was gone, worked issue for several days.  After about day 5 or so, was finally able to Sign-on; did nothing different (assume server finally let me back in).  Ran Live update, rebooted; everything looked good except no Smart Scan.  Odd but I'm not too worried about it; NOT going to reinstall anytime soon because that was a pain.  Partly my fault, I think if I would have just waited a day or 2 it would have let me in.  I'm curious if Smart Scan will suddenly pop back in one day.  I did notice in History some errors being sent to Norton but not much info in them.  Below is the link you asked about.

I still have no Smart Scan

So, your My Norton nor Classic dashboard has Smart Scan button?
and is your Norton 360 subscription from Amazon?
can you post link to your Norton 360 on Amazon?

I always saw that Smart Scan only did a quick scan.  I have a task setup to run a full scan once a week or so.  On your comment, "...Smart Scan, checked settings, last Norton update had switched it on,..."  Probably because 'Remote Management' is turned on in Admin settings.  I didn't even know about that until someone mentioned that in a thread, here maybe.  Not sure of any degradation of how the AV/FW would work with it turned off.  I assume it will help out with zero day hits, I saw in history auto FW changes.  Trying to get to know Norton better and pay more attention to it.  I saw it had sent some errors out to a server, vague info on them though.  I still have no Smart Scan, wondering if it'll pop-in again one day.

I have Smart scan turned off. A few updates back, one morning had daily SDS definitions, followed during the next idle period, by quick scan that SDS definitions trigger. Less than hour later, looking in history & another scan had run but there had been no further Live updates had been run. Closer look, showed it had run Smart Scan, checked settings, last Norton update had switched it on, - thanks Norton! Duration of scan was a bit more than Quick Scan but not the duration of a full scan. With standard hard disc 'C', this normally takes best part of an hour. So, in my case, Smart Scan cannot include full scan. Missed this one, as, after an update, normally check all settings have not changed.
