Smart View screen sharing while using VPN

Hi all, i have the latest version of Norton 360 on my samsung IOS phone. I would like to use Smart View to screen share a live stream to my TV while VPN is enabled.

What i’ve tried/information

  • Both devices are on the same wifi network.
  • Error I get on phone: “TV Connection ended because of your VPN connection”
  • Smart view screen sharing works fine when VPN is disabled
  • Tried enabling “Access Local devices with VPN”. Smart View fails
  • Smart View is not listed in the Norton Split Tunneling Apps list
  • Tried enabling “Split Tunneling” with “Smart Things” enabled - Smart View Fails
  • Rebooted, TV, phone, Router.
  • I get identical results when trying with a different Samsung IOS phone with Norton 360

To see if this was limited to my Norton app, I installed another VPN (Setup VPN). Within this apps VPN settings, Smart View is specifically listed in the Split Tunneling apps. When I enabled this, Smart View works fine.

Setup VPN is a freebie and has limited global servers/speeds so is not a solution for me. As I have paid for Norton, I am loath to pay for a further VPN app to overcome this problem.

Can anybody advise how to resolve this problem i’m having with Smart View/Norton VPN.

Many Thanks David

Hi @David_I ,
Welcome to the Norton community !
Several people have recently reported concerns similar to the one you are experiencing.
The problem is known. I hope it will be fixed soon.
Sincerely

Guillaume

Which Samsung phone and Android OS version are you using?

I just installed Smart View and as you note it does not show up in the list of apps for Split Tunnel. I suggest you post a request to add this app to Split Tunnel in the Product Suggestions forum board.
