im using a htc Hero S, and it is impossible to unlock the phone once locked. th only way to unlock it is to lock/ unlock it via the web. what appears to be the problem is the program does not recognise any input to trigger the option of entering my password, but im not positive about this.
thanks. im using paid virsion, and updated it today.
Sorry if I do not give a simple answer but I'm not sure I understand your problem.
As I understand you, you have the Norton Mobile Security app (downloaded from the Android Market - probably) and have upgraded it to the paid version.
If you have lock active then you must have activated the Anti-Theft feature - so you must have input text to set up a password. Are you saying that the pop up keyboard has stopped appearing now that your phone has locked?
Not aware that you can unlock your phone over the web even using Norton Anti Theft software. But you should be able to unlock your phone remotely using the "buddy" feature and sending an "unlock" text message from a buddy phone.
Does that help? Or have I misunderstood your problem?
The way the SMS unlock feature works, you have to text unlock buddy_number (where buddy_numberis the mobile number of one of the buddies you selected during setup) from that buddy's cellphone. See Norton Mobile Knowledge Base entry here. The lack of ability to unlock it from your phone itself protects against (for example) the possibility of someone forcing you to give them your unlock code on the spot so they could access your device.
sorry if i wasnt clear, whats wrong is the keybord is being locked out too, or just does not show. i understand the buddy system, and have not confirmed that it works, i managed to get the keybord up only by locking the phone again through the website. and if i click out of that single shot keybord the only way to unlock the phone, becides possibly the buddy is to unlock it via the web. so long story short the keybord only appears once, and is easily missed. hopefully that explains my problem better
@Andmike LOL Well, I did definitely mess up: the unlock code isn't the password, it's the buddy's mobile number. Your post about it now just being unlock sent from a buddy's phone rings a bell with me also, now that you mention it...but is not confirmed by the knowledge base. So either that hasn't (yet?) been implemented, or the knowledge base has not yet been brought current! (Erik...?)
As for ability to unlock from the locked phone itself, from what I have seen and can recall, I stand by my original statement.
KB board hasn't been updated yet, but will soon. Actually the unlock code would be the password if sent from a non-buddy phone. The difference now is that in 2.5 a buddy only has to send "unlock" in their SMS.
