Here is another thing that is happening. I’ve been working on the troubled comp tonight. Started out with one Norton Minder icon and disabled it via signing in with my addy and password. A bit later, a second icon shows up and I have to go through the same routine. Then again, a third icon shows up and I have to enter my info a third time. So, at the moment I have three gray paws in my tray! Hope y’all can figure it out…
newsong,
We have a few posts in the forum about the incompatibility issue with Avast on Windows XP.

Katie,
I can disable the Web Shield on Avast and see if that makes a difference, although I don't want to create a vulnerability for the comp by doing so either. Guess I need to check into that. But again, if it is a compatibility problem with Avast why am I not having similar problems on the other comps and why did I not have this problem before downloading the most recent Norton Minder (to fix the social activity log problem)? Even if it is a particular issue with XP over Vista, I still didn't have the problem prior to the update download. If it was a compatibility problem, wouldn't there have been a conflict from the beginning (unless, perhaps, it's specific to the current Norton Minder)? It doesn't seem to make sense. And none of the links you provided spoke to the runtime error issues or the multiple or disappearing paw icon, unless I missed something, which is entirely possible :-). Is this just a bug that at this point has no answer or fix? Maybe the Web Shield disabling will do the trick..
