Software updater misidentifies Handbrake versio

The software updater is identifying the version number of Handbrake video encoding software. When I open Handbrake it shows version 1.6.0 and when I try to update it says no updates are available. But when I check the software updater in Norton 360 it says the current version is 1.0.0 and the latest version is 1.6.0. If I try to update Handbrake it fails.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Hi @DM77,

Could you please run LiveUpdate a few times to see if you're getting the latest patch? Thank you.

I've rescanned the software updater twice, but there is no change.

Hi @DM77,

Thank you posting on the Norton Community. This issue has been fixed. Could you please check and confirm? Thank you.

The latest version is 1.6.0. from what I can research. The larger question is, where are you downloading it from? Its opensource and freeware, so there are several websites available. Freeware does come with their own inherent risks. That said. Regarding Software Updater. There are many threads and posts regarding SU not giving users correct information. I personally DON'T recommend using it for one reason. It is NOT, a matured feature within Norton at the present time. My recommendation is use the updater within the application or visit the website where it is from to get updates. There have been instances where a computer was left not bootable due to incorrect drivers being installed when recommended by SU.
