SOME N00BIE QUESTIONS

Hi folks -

My first post after upgrading from Windows 7 to 10, and adding the latest version of Norton.  I'm actually a long time user - started out with a neat firewall program called "ATGuard" in the late 90's and shifted to Symantec when that program's features were incorporated into Norton.  My questions/observations are mostly about some of the differences in options available with the latest version compared to those of the earlier ones.

1. There used to be an option to "block all internet traffic" - a single click allowed me to walk away from the computer, worry free and not having to disconnect the modem, if I was going to be gone for an hour or more.  Now, i do the modem disconnect whenever I'm not sure of my away time and dutifully wait through the reconnect/sync'ing time upon my return - double penalty for overstaying the sleep setting.  Any chance that this useful function will be reintroduced?  It's worth the embarrassment if you tell me it's still there and I'm too dumb to find it!

2. System Scans - I'm sure there's a good reason for requiring internet connection to do comprehensive scans - just used to the other versions where, online or offline, the job was done.  A bit of an inconvenience, but if it means more thorough scans, then I'm for it.

3. System Scans revisited - In the old days, a full system scan would return results along the lines of total files scanned, some reference to types of files (like boot e.g.) and info about the nastiness detected and defeated by NIS.  Nowadays, the full scan gives a totally different summary. For example:

     Total - 270k     Skipped - 28k     Trusted - 33k     Other - 4

It was easy enough to figure out, after doing a Security History review, that the "Other" files were those in quarantine. (If only folks who do upgrades for others would do a system scan before returning the computer)  The rest of the info has me a bit confused - no idea on what types of files were skipped, nor the reason for non-scanning.  The same with "trusted" files - trusted today could mean infectable (new word?) tomorrow.  Is there any overlap between Skipped/Trusted or are they totally exclusive of one another?  I'd feel much better if the total simply were simply 331k (math check) and I knew that the full system scan had been true to its title.  I haven't been able to figure out if there's a way to configure a custom scan to be truly complete - any help with this one?

 4. Old Windows - Windows 10 gives an option to revert to Win7 within 30 days of the new install.  So I waited the obligatory 2 days to figure out the new system quirks and then uninstalled windows 7.  However, Win7 refused to die!  There is a Windows.old folder with a path /windows/system32/tasks that has a single file: "Обновление Браузера Яндекс."  I've tried to remove it, but I'm informed that it's not at that location - try again.  File search doesn't show this 3.29k Cyrillic sneak - any thoughts?  (Google gives a zillion forum sites foreign to me, but it seems to be adware associated - maybe this is leftover from all the Yandex.ru files and apps that I removed, solving a persistent cookie problem.)

Thanks in advance for any help and apologies for the wall-of-text.
