Hi:
I am new to this forum and, after researching several backup/restore softwares, decided that Norton Ghost 14 is the one I will be purchasing.
I could not find any way to contact Norton directly with this question. So I am posting it here with the hope that some experienced users can assist me.
I only have only one internal hard drive (C:) on my computer and it is working fine. However, I would like to be prepared in case of a disaster. That is the purpose of purchasing this product. But I am not sure how I would be able to test the restoring capabilities of Norton Ghost 14. I do not want to purchase another internal hard drive since I am not really knowledgeable about what is inside my box and am not confident in being able to open up my computer to install anything new. But I do not wish to reformat my C: drive either and risk that the restore does not work.
So as a best alternative, I figured I would test by backing up an external 160gb USB hard drive which has two partitions (100gb and 60gb). Then I would reformat the drive so that it would look like it was new with just one healthy active partition of 160gb.
Note that my backup drive is a 1TB USB external drive.
Question: Would there be any problem with Norton Ghost 14 being able to restore to the 160gb drive? Would it automatically create the two partitions?
If not, is there any suggestions for testing the restore?
Thanks in advance.
