I am trying to setup my NIS to the ultra security state.
With norton help center, I finished most setting, but still need help with a few others.
What I wish to do to the firewall is to close/block anything that I dont use. I have manually set all the program rules.
About general rule, is there a list of infomation about all the function of the general rules? So that I can know which I should disable. For now, I disabled all the ICMP-allow rule and add monitor to see if there is any ICMP access.
What I need to know is that what dose the rules in grey mean? I know that I cant modify it, but are these grey rule still work? are they being disabled or enabled?
for example, there are two default rules stays together:
default allow windows file sharing (shared network) ------ locked and checked
default block windows file sharing ------- unlocked and checked
so, is result that NIS will let file sharing access?
And about Uncommon Protocols, is there a list of information about them? According to the Helper, uncheck would block the protocol, so I need to know their function... Or is it OK to uncheck them all if what I need is the most basic function of interenet?
And about Automatic File/Printer Sharing Control and Automatic Learn IPv6 NAT Traversal Traffic. the helper explain what these two options will do, but I am not sure what will NIS do if I disabled them. Will NIS just not do anything to it as "allow all" or just not let that kind of traffic pass as "block all"? So... which one is safer? disbale or enable?
The default setting is for easy-using. So I need a guide to change my NIS to the ultra security mode here.....
