After installing Norton Back up and begin to register the computer I get a tiki guy with the message something went wrong 500. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, turned off the pop up blocker and still get the same message. No help from Norton. Have been trying for two months!

That error sounds like there is an account problem. Most likely it didn't get correctly created based on the info given and the fact it started happening as soon as you first tried to login. Please contact Support at this link. Have them look at the account to see if it has online backup space activated. If it doesn't they should be able to correctly escalate it or let me know via this post or private message.
