SONAR Advanced Protection problems

I am running WindowsXP and version 3.0.0.135 of Norton 360.  I am receivig the error

Your PC is not protected by SONAR Advanced Protection.

The sonar is  turned on in my settings and I've uninstalled and reinstalled Norton numerous times.  How do you fix this?

Peaches

Hi Peaches20:

It may be a settings problem, but let's do a check for malware.

Please run a SysProt log for us so we can check your system for rootkit activity. You will need to disable Norton auto-protect while you run the scan.

Choose report or log, check all the boxes and scan.

You will be able to post the log here using the "add attachments" link just below the orange post button.

Hi,

Do you receive any error code? for eg: 3039,1

Try the following steps:

1. Navigate to the Mdac.inf file located in  %WINDIR%\inf

2. Right-click Mdac.inf and choose "Install"

3. You will be prompted that files on the Windows XP Service Pack CD are needed; in the space provided, enter the following and click OK:

%WINDIR%\servicepackfiles\i386

Note: If you do not have a Service Pack directory, the files can be downloaded from Microsoft and extracted

   a. Save the following file to the desktop:

   http://download.microsoft.com/download/d/3/0/d30e32d8-418a-469d-b600-f32ce3edf42d/WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe

   b. Type the following in the Run dialogue box(include quotes):

   "%userprofile%\Desktop\WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe" -x:c:\xpsp3

   c. Use c:\xpsp3 as the source directory for the needed files

4. The installation will continue to around 50% then ask for files from the original Windows XP CD; if you have the Windows XP CD, insert it in the CD-ROM and use the Browse button to locate the i386 folder on the CD; if the CD is not available then you may have an i386 folder on the root of your system drive, use Browse to locate it and choose OK.

5. Restart the computer.

Let us know the result.

Vineeth--

Hi,

I finally did the sys prot log and the file is attached.  Thanks for any help.

Here's the file.  Thanks again.

Your log looks fine.  If you haven’t already done so, please follow Vineeth’s instructions to see if that will correct the problem.
