I recently installed 360 3.0 and cant seem to get Foxfire or Thunderbird (latest versions) to launch. After some trial and error, it seems that the problem is Sonar. When its turned off, I can connect with both apps. Ive got a xp sp3 machine BTW.
Any ideas and what additional risk are there not using Sonar.
Try to run LiveUpdate from Norton 360 repeatedly until you get all updates and then check this problem. If the problem persists, try uninstalling/reinstalling firefox. Let us know the results.
Okay, did an update and re-installed Thundebird but not Firefox and nothing changed. I have noticed that if I use FF or TB while Sonar is disabled, they dont connect but show up on Taskmanager as process but not a running app. Then if I enable Sonar, they both connect after 30sec. or so.
I dont currently but had ZoneAlarm at one time and after researching a bit, found that it leaves lots of files behind after uninstalling it.
I deleted several files from the reg. and i386 folder but there might be more. Can this be the culprit? I just loaded 360 on my new W7 PC and it works perfectly.
Mozilla software completely failing to run is not something that I have ever seen before associated with Norton so I was thinking that maybe a conflict between two real-time security programs might be causing the Mozilla apps to freeze on startup. I just think it is likely that something beyond Norton must be partially or totally involved, as well. Zone Alarm with ForceField was responsible for some issues with Firefox failing to load, so it is certainly possible that this is somehow related to your issue. You can read about that situation, along with other possible causes for Firefox not loading, here:
