Hi, ever since i upgraded from Norton internet Security 2009 to Internet security 2010 i am continually getting the sonar protection error on startup.
When i upgraded it was a new full retail version of 2010 installed on a fresh formatted XP sp3 machine. Each time my internet security runs out i do a complete reformat as its good to do a clean up.
I have never had any issues with Norton products untill i used 2010 version.
I let it do the automatic fix it tell me to reboot and after about 5 to 10 min the error pops up. My computer has been reformatted about 5 times this year alone as each time i have used the NRT it buggers up other drivers on my comp. Not sure why. I have always done all xp sp3 updates before installing Nortons again.
I am at my whits end with this Sonar Protection error. It does not happen on my Vista laptop and it is exactly the same disk used to install it......I dont have pc anywhere or any virtual drives installed. I use cc cleaner and driver sweeper (if i dont reformat) but alas this error still comes up. Some days if i do the fix the error does not come back when i reboot but the next day when i start my computer the error will be back. Has this error been fixed in the 2011 version or do i just give up and use another brand of internet security.
I have used Nortons for near on 11 years and this is the first time i am considering changing products..... I am very computer savy but this is beyond me. I have had Norts online techs access my computer and the error still shows......
Also have they managed to fix the access denied error in Msconfig with the 2011 version.
Sorry for the long post.............Tracey from Australia
