about 3 weeks ago i got the xp08 virus and had it removed professionally  at the same time i  got updated to norton’s symantec end point. yesterday i started getting outgoing emailproxy messagesfrom symantic saying that my out going email was blocked. Well i’m getting over 1,000 of these messages and I not sending any emails.  I have run several norton scans, nothing shows and recently tried malwarbytes and nothing there either.  any idea what the heck is going on and what i can do.  I am running windows xp, sp3.  all my norton is up to date

Yep.  I think someone is simply using your email address as a false header.  Happens all the time.  And to a lot of nice people who end up with half the world hating them.

If that's the case, then no one is on your computer, and there is little you can do about it until some identifies the actually sender and blocks that person.  If any of this email is directed to you, Norton Spam filter will probably pick up the right sender when you say to block it; so will Outlook Express, I think.  You could hunt the person down and break all their fingers.  That would be a good start to stopping this **self-censored" and all "self-censored" like him from doing it again.

For corporate edition products please visit the STN forums at https://forums.symantec.com

Here we only deal with the consumer versions and EndPoint is a business application.

Good luck ...

This is correct. For now you could try to download www.superantispyware.com and run a scan

Hi,

Most likely you have been infected by a mailworm that it send spam from your computer, on each mail it sends your Norton/Symantec product will pop up and notify you that it has scanned the mail. It could be a brand new variant, that would explain why none of the programs found it. You will need to identifiy the file (most of the mailworms I encounter is only one file) and remove it.  I would have to look at some logs from your system to help you any further.
