Sorry about my username I got totally frustrated while registering, took me a half hour.
I feel that I have a virus on my computer, it has been acting very strange since Friday and is getting worse.
Yes, I have norton (fully updated). I ran a full system scan and came up with nothing, other than a couple of tracking cookies. Is it possible that I have a virus and norton is not detecting it?
Symptoms:
- Highlighting text (anywhere, forums, notepad, IM window, etc...) is irratic, it barely works or only highlights part of the text.
It is not a browser issue, Happening in all my browsers and I have 9 browsers.
- Menus act strange (e.g. when I click on bookmarks,the menu will flash several times (open and close real quick)
- Redirected to random tabs. I'll be working in one tab and I suddenly end up in a different tab.
- Irratic behaviour when minimizing windows. I'll have several things in my bottom tray (e.g. a few notepads open and a couple of browsers), I click on the tab in my tray to minimize something and it jumps right back up, basically the same behaviour as the menus.
- I ran sfc / scannow and it looked as if it didn't do anything at all. I'd paste the results here but I can't highlight.
- System restore failed
Windows vista. Java and browsers are up to date, so is norton
Is there any known virus that would show this behaviour?
