Spam emails: Is this a scam?

I received a Norton Anti Spam email saying my email was sending spam to them and if I didn't stop they are going to sue me. This is their email:  CorpTech [company_697@corptech.com].  I've never heard of my email sending spam. Is it true or is this junk like my junk mail indicated. I did not open the attachment in there email.

Thanks,

 boris77

in my Junk mail

Thanks for helping me.

Thanks for your patience with me I'm new at this. Only my address was found in the To Field.

No problem, we are here to help. Could you let us know if you have web based email account?

Did not see you that you already posted information above. So you download your email through Outlook or other email client on your computer or do you go online to access your email from your isp? As for the other email, that is because you subscribed to this thread and it is sending you a email when someone replies.

How do I find this out?  My email company is based in Elk Grove Ca   called Surewest.

Do you go on the internet to access it or do you use an email client to read emails?

Guaranteed scam. Just ignore it.

I use Outlook.

Well I would not open the attachment. I am trying to see if there is any possibility that you account is sending spam out if someone hacked into your email account, but that usually happens with web based accounts such as yahoo or hotmail. If you don't see any weird messages in your sent folder I would not worry about it. If you do see a lot of sent messages you don't recognize please let us know.

Could they have hacked into my email because I go onto Facebook?

No I don't think you have to worry about anything. Like I said I was just trying to figure that out from the questions I was asking you. Just delete the message and you should be fine. Usually only happens when you use web based emails and then all your friends and family start telling you that you are sending them spam. But in this case most likely PDF has some kind of exploit in it to install malware on your computer if you open it.

what do you mean   original threads?

This one here(http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Spam-emails-Is-this-a-scam/m-p/540134#M173639) It will be easier if we have all the information in one place and we can help you faster if you keep these posts in one thread. It is about the same email you recieved.

Yes, it is assuredly a scam. Ignore it.

HI boris77,

This is almost certainly a scam to impel compel you to open a malicious attachment.  In order to sue you they would have to serve you.  Since they have no idea where you live, that might be a problem for them.  It is an empty threat.  Delete the message.
