I installed norton 360 and add on pack on laptop with vista, I cannot find the spam folder.  It does not show up as it does with outlook express on another computer with XP.  Can anyone offer help how to find this folder to check its contents

Are you working with Outlook?

I have this issue resolved, thanks

Great.

thanx for your feedback

Look for Junk email in the list of folders in Windows Mail.

It does not seem to set up its own folder, which is OK by me, but labels them and puts them in with any junk that Windows Mail itself sorts out.

I'm not using XP any more so I can't remember much about Message Rules in but I'm surprised you can't create a new rule that any messages flagged [Norton AntiSpam] are moved to a certain folder. That's how you do it in Thunderbird that I tried out with WIN 7 but I'm using Windows Live Mail now and just let it go into Junk folder that defaults.

You'd have to delete the old rule.

Hi BlebNevus,

I thought this rang a bell from an older thread I recalled seeing and fortunately I was able to further narrow the search because I remembered one of the author's names.

Please check out the following thread and see if this helps.

Be sure to check each post in the above thread for any suggestions which might prove useful.

Please let us know how it goes.

Best wishes.

Allen M: Many thanks for this link. I’ve just tried the first suggestion – unchecking Norton’s automated spam rule (which persists in sending spam to the wrong folder) and creating a manual rule in its place. My new rule was still there after restarting OE and re-enabling NIS antispam. Now I’m waiting to see if Norton obeys the rule when the next piece of spam arrives…

Hi BlebNevus,

You are most welcome. :smileyhappy:

Will look forward to hearing the final outcome.

Best wishes.

Allen

The newly created spam rule does indeed seem to work; all I had to do was amend it to “mark messages as read.” Again, thanks for your help.

Hi BlebNevus,

Thanks for letting us know. I'm happy that the problem is resolved for you. :smileyhappy:

Best wishes.

Allen

I’m running NIS 2011 with XP and Outlook Express. As of about a week ago, the spam picked up by Norton was being sent to one of my regular e-mail folders (called “Commercial”) rather than to the Norton Antispam Folder that Norton itself created. I checked my mail message rules and, sure enough, the Norton rule calls for tagged mail to be sent to “Commercial” – and the name of the target folder is grayed out so I can’t edit it as I would any other e-mail rule. I tried closing out of OE, then disabling the antispam feature of NIS, then opening up OE again, then re-enabling antispam, then reopening OE. I vaguely remember using this strategy for a related problem awhile back. But this time it didn’t help: it’s still sending spam to the wrong folder. Other ideas?
