For a few months I've been receiving emails that appear to come from myself, i.e. my email address is in the FROM field. They come from one or more people I've never heard of or knowingly subscribed to and because they appear to be using my email address to email me I definitely do not trust them. I'm using Outlook and Norton 360. The emails get put into either my Norton Anti Spam folder or my Junk Email folder and from there I regularly 'empty' the folders.
I'm now getting fed up with receiving the emails and would like them stopped but do not want to reply to the emails in case it gets worse. If they go into the Junk Email folder and I click 'This is Spam' N360 asks if I want to add my email address to my 'blocked list' which to date I've said 'no' to. I'm sure I've also seen a N360 notice asking if I want to notify Norton this is spam. Again, I don't want my own email address to be black listed so have said 'no' to this too.
Is there anyway I can put a stop to actually recreiving these emails in the first place?

Thanks SendOfJive.
Is it safe to click 'This is Spam' and if N360 asks if I want to add my email address to my 'blocked list' to say 'yes' without actually blocking my email address (I do regularly email myself notes from my Blackberry)?
And if N360 asks if I want to notify Norton this is spam, would it be safe to say 'yes' without getting black listed?
Hi Paul,
Adding your own mail id to Blocked List is not a convenient option since even the legitimate mails you send yourself will be pushed to Norton Antispam Folder / Junk-Emails Folder. This means, those notes (that you send yourself with the same id from other devices) would fall into Norton Antispam or Junk folder.
However, if the spam mails you receive in this way have a static subject line, you can create a custom rule on outlook to move/delete mails that have a combination of specific words in subject and your id as the sender.
Thanks!
Many thanks sneha renga.
Nice, clear, helpful, to-the-point responses from both you and SendOfJive. Thank you both very much.
It's a shame the ISP's or maybe Norton won't do anything about email address spoofing, as I'm sure they could all come up with a solution if they really wanted to, e.g. something in the Internet Headers that could differentiate and be used to block?
