OK, granted I haven't defraged in ages. (almost a year) This weekend I ran speed?disk on a 250G HD that was 95% full.
This optimization took about 70 HOURS. I didn't interupt in fear of loosing data... I was prepping for a full mirror before installing XP SP3. Well all appeared fine until I went to the installed programs folder where I keep back up programs for purchased programs that I don't have a disk for. I had sent my disk partition to this folder.
I was going to install a new USB 1TB Hard Drive to back up my drive. When I went to the "installed programs" folder, to my horror this folder had only the partition file in it. Norton's speeddisk had deleted over 26MB of installation files! Some of these programs are no longer produces. I'm hoping at this point there is nothing else missing or corrupt.
At this point in time I can see no reason not to relegate speeddisk to the trash bin. Any ideas?
