Startup scan getting 42125 and 42127 errors

Detailed description:Running startup scan. Getting numerous err 42125. At 17% on scan and it appears every file is corrupted. My pc does not appear to be having a problem, so what is going on?

@GloriaH Disable startup scan and reboot the computer. Use that scan cautiously, if ever for the reasons you are seeing. False positives. The professional way to correct suspected Windows files as being corrupted is the following:

If the sfc/scannow reports nothing found that is good. Proceed to the DISM commands. If things are reported as good ignore the Norton startup scan entirely. Myself and others do not recommend using it unless there is good reason for it, ie: computer sluggish and constant freezes as examples. Please report your progress so we may follow-up with it.

I reran the sfc/scannow and the system found a few corrupt files and says it corrected them. I’m not going deeper right now, since I seem to be working ok (except for the crazy popup/green icon that intermittently appears).

I ran across this startup scan and thought it might be useful, but if it’s not trustworthy I’ll leave it alone.

You are most welcome and thanks for the follow-up post. I recommend opening a command prompt ( run as administrator ) and pasting in this command line: Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Please do this as soon as you feasibly can to ensure Windows is in the best possible shape. It will only take a few minutes and doesn’t require you to attend the computer while it is running. As always, just trying to be pro-active in respect to getting people like you and I the best results possible.

did sfc/scan and dism…. on both C and D drives, all is well

reran startup scan, and still hitting error 42125, but much less. I will not worry. Only comment is that it stinks that a function isn’t reliable.
