Stop Interrupting Me!

The other threads on this seem to have been closed to new posts. I've had Nortons for some 20 years and overall have been very happy with the protection it provides. However in the last couple of years, Norton has decided that if I have their product installed they have unlimited rights to interrupt me with advertising and unwanted notifications. I do want to be notified of security issues. Endless popups telling my own home network password doesn't meet their standards is beyond annoying. And even when there is a "don't notify me again about this" - which there is usually is not - Norton pays no attention to that response.

I've looked at settings noted in other posts, but they seem to be oriented towards silent mode for a defined period or while full screen. That's useful but it doesn't solve the problem. If Norton insists on spamming my desktop as a result of being a customer, that leaves me only one thing I can change - not be a customer any longer. Given the various threads here, it seems Norton really doesn't care what customers think. So annoying. And to think I pay for the privilege of being annoyed. I know people from Norton monitor these forums. Do you have any comment?

Tom

I find it not only annoying but also an invasion of my privacy. Norton is using its leverage to create scary messages where there are no concerns in order to sell more products.  I will not be renewing my subscription after many years of patronage because of such invasive advertising tactics.

Threads are closed automatically after 30 days with no new posts. It has nothing to do with whether an issue has been resolved or not. This helps ensure that any active threads are current.

As you note, there have been many threads here on the topic of all the advertising being pushed on us from our paid Norton product. The Norton people that might monitor these forums are not the ones that make the decisions about allowing marketing to run the show. Not saying we are wasting our time. Just don't expect anything to change any time soon.
