Ok, this is very strange. I have two laptops, both with NIS. The one with Windows 7 Home, no problem. The other has Windows 7 Pro.
Every once in awhile, the little Norton icon in the system tray (lower right corner) disappears. Quite often when this happens, something else is amiss. Last time, Thunderbird would not get my email. I'd get a comment that the CharterServer rejected the request. My other computer with a similar set-up (both had Thunderbird; the problem computer had a IMAP set-up; the other was POP3).
Anyway, when I click on the Norton desktop icon, the Norton symbol reappears in the systray, and all is well. This happens every so often (about once a month). Running NIS and a few anti-malware programs reveal no problem.
Any ideas what is going on? How can I fix this?
