Not sure what to make of all this, and it's quite unusual. Anyways, starting a few months ago, unusual things began happening with my laptop and also the desktop in my house. One one occasion, I was writing text in a box. Then, suddenly and out of the blue, full text with detailed information appeared when I didn't write anything at all! That was just extremely strange, but I forgot about it. My Mom was saying, "Oh it was probably just a glitch"..... then again, what kind of a glitch would do that? Later on, I got a message while doing Google advanced search that my searches were being denied due to 'unusual requests' and several months after that a similar message appeared on my yahoo search on my other computer. At the time, I called yahoo after the error message said to 'scan my system for viruses and spyware', which I have already done. There is nothing, and to the best of my knowledge there is no malware in my laptop either. The person at yahoo said something about someone 'trying to access my network' which I don't know. Anyways, it was just quite strange these occurrences, even though they all occurred months apart from each other. Now, there is nothing detected by Norton scans and nothing was detected when I called Norton and the tech did remote access to check for malware. The system is clean, yet I'm still a bit baffled as to how a full couple pages of text mysteriously appeared in a box, especially. Since there is no malware to the best of my knowledge, what do you think would be causing this?
Thanks
I don't think my "thinking" would have helped.
It was on the lines that at least in Windows 10 there's a setting called Synch and I have come across someone who saw that any time he changed the contents of something on his PC it was changed on his wife's as well. Turning off Synch solved the problem ....
I've no background on anything Mac so I really can't help you.
I'd suggest updating your WIndows 8 laptop to Windows 10 -- if you have not done it because you missed the free time to upgrade, there is a legitimate Microsoft route to deal with that. If you are interested I'll check and see if that is still available.
Apart from support for Windows 8 having stopped they do want everyone to get onto Windows 10 so I would expect it still to be available.
Maybe time to replace the Mac?!
My laptop uses Windows 8, and my desktop is a very old Macintosh OS. My laptop is fully updated, but my Macintosh is not updated much at all. It's still basically as it was back in 2008. They both go through a router, and they use the same router. There is another internet connection some of them use, but it's primarily my Macintosh that picks up on the other connection.
As a beginning could you say which version of Windows you are using on the two computers eg 7 8 or 10 and have they been fully updated.
And how they are linked to the internet -- eg is the laptop linked to the internet via a router connected to the other PC and if so by wifi or by a cable.
I don't have an answer but I have a vague thought <g>
