Recently, I have been unable to run live update from the Norton Protection Interface. When I click on it, it I get a pop-up window which says ":Liveupdate Failed". However, if I run from outside of NIS via LUALL, then everything is OK. I've tried the fix tool solution for

LU1803, but it tells me that I must run the fix tool when I am an administrator (which I wam according to Vista). The only way that I can get the tool to run is to turn off UACC. Then it cleans up things and then does a reinstall. Turning UACC back on gives me the same problem within NIS2008.5. Any ideas?

How to re-install LiveUpdate.

I had already tried that, but thanks for the suggestion. The problem was caused by LUALL.EXE somehow having the "Run as administrator" box check in compatibility properties in Vista. I unchecked the box, and then restarted the system. Unfortunately, then the protection center showed my virus and spyware definitions out of date. I had to download the PIUpdate tool to fix the product definition status. Now all is well. Whew!
