Yes. I would suggest using the Norton Removal Tool and, as long as you have the disc, re-install it; it you do not have the disc, then, turn on Windows’ Firewall until you install it via www.findmyorder.com if you have Bought Extended Download Service. If you have not bought E.D.S., then you can always Download and Install the Trailware (www.symantec.com) Online Store and Activite it that way.
While installing the first time you are able to safe your key into a NortonAccount. That way you can never loose your license
Floating Red:
Question: So if an end user uses the Norton Removal Tool, does that 'put the activation back on the symantec server'? When the end user goes to re-install NIS, and they enter the product key, is the symantec computer able to recognize that this particular computer is already 'activated' and doesn't 'charge' another activation to the user? (that is, if they have a 3 computer license, and they've used say 2 of the computers allowed, it won't use the last slot/license which would keep them from installing on a 3rd computer).
Thanks,
Matthew
P.S. I ask because I'm in the same boat as the original poster. I do ghost image my drive, but I still like to do a fresh install several times a year.

Hello!
I assume so, yes, because, otherwise, you would not be allowed to re-install. I have also had no problem un-installing via Add/Remove and then re-installing from the saved Download File on my Desktop. :)
When you re-start from using the N.R.T., then, a Web Page Loads up for you to re-install your Norton Security Product.

I have a question. If i reformat the hard disk many times in a year ( to recover my computer performance) , then can i activate the norton product every time using the same valid product key on the same computer after the reformat? I scared after i reformat the hard disk, the server will tell me that the product key i used have exceeded the allowable number of installs. I hope the server can stores the basic information of our computer to detect whether the product key used have exceeded the allowable number of installs.
Most likely, if you reformat enough times, you'll get the notification that you've exceeded the number of activations. If this happens, just contact our Customer Support team and explain the situation. They can reset this number for you quickly:

Using the Norton Removal Tool won't really change anything, since you're reformatting anyway. Please let me know if I'm misunderstanding the situation. Thanks!
Thanks!
