If I purchase a Norton Secruity product and do not install it immeadiately when does the subscription date start. For instance, I buy it on April 12th 2011 and do not install it until July 2011. When does the year subscription begin. Also if the product is for 3 pc's do all of the subscription dates start at the same time even if I only install the product on one pc. Another question is, if I install the product on a pc that still has 200 days left, willl it add the additonal 365 days to the 200? Thank you
HI Welcome to Norton Communtiy
the license/Subscription date does not begin till you install
and more importantly enter the license key, activate the product online
So till then your license shall not start
Thanks for the reply. I'm still a little confused. I called a Norton help line and was told the subscription begins on the the purchase date. Was she wrong?
watty32 - I think if you renew or purchase a subscription from Norton's On-Line, your subscription does start then. I think if you were to buy a boxed program, you could put the program in your closet and it can stay there until you install it or enter the new key code, that is when the activation period should start. If you're still not sure, just reply and I'm sure someone else will try to help you.
@ watty32
hi I was talking about boxed version as xplained by PC confused
boxed for sure unless you enter till no subs. start but for the online one well you should plisten to what support tells you
Purchasing license from norton Website costs more while purchasing from a dealer costs less atleast by an amount of INR Rs 300 (atleast where I live)
Also, if you renew online, the remaining days on your current subscription are added to the new subscription. If you buy a boxed version, do not add the new key until a day or two before the current subscription expires. Entering a new key from a boxed version does not add the current subscription days.
All three licences in a three user subscription begin and end at the same time.

My new year ought to have had 365 days from the renewal period but today it tells me I have only 323 days. What happened to the other 42 days? How do I get this adjusted?
Lionel.
Welcome.
Did you 'renew' your subscription or did you use a new key that you purchased elsewhere. I try to get the best deal that I can rely on
I know that there's the 'new' math but this still doesn't add up. I would recommend that you visit with the fine folks in customer service via the chat feature and get it sorted out. You can find them here
Hello Imiles6033 and welcome to the Community. You didn't mention what Norton Product you had, so I'll assume NIS2011. Have you tried opening up your Norton window, clicking on Support and then clicking on Subscription Status? This will connect your PC to the Norton Server and let you know your days remaining status. Just a thought.
Thanks Dick. I will give it a try. Each time I tried before I got stuck with the "virtual customer service" robot.

Hi Lionel,
You need to be sure and click the "Chat Now" button on the link that Dick provided. This will bypass that (sometimes) annoying computer robot!
Best wishes.

Hello Lionel
Please also check the time and date on your computer and the location and make sure that is correct also. Check to see if there are any errors having to do with the time and date. Thanks.
My last subscription ended on August 20 and I renewed on August 14. I should have just under a year of subscription left and not less by 43 days.
Lionel
Sorry for the late response but I was renewing Norton 360.

Hi Lionel,
Which version of N360 do you have? You can find this from Support > About or Help & Support > About.
Have you tried to click on Support > Subscription Status to see if N360 would update correctly?
If this does not work you need to visit Customer Service by CHAT as mentioned earlier. They are the only ones who can sort this out for you.
This is a user to user forum and there are lots of experienced people here to help with techinical problems but only Customer Service can resolve Subscription issues.
Please let us know how it goes.
Best wishes.
