Subscription issue with NIS 2005 - best way forward?

Hi all,

I'm trying to sort out a problem with NIS 2005 (on an XP machine belonging to friends who are not very computer literate) - they have recently purchased a subscription renewal, but it is not recognised so LiveUpdate fails.

Following the instructions to resynchronise the subscription results in a Scripting error message referring to nisplug.dll - the Symantec website suggests that a removal and reinstall of NIS is the solution. I presume no-one is aware of a less drastic way to do this?

As it happens, they can't find the original CD, so reinstall is not an easy option unless there is a downloadable installer for NIS2005.

If the subscription is not recognised, is there a way to arrange a refund for them?

Many thanks for any suggestions you have!

John
