Hi gez
Some PC retailers offer Norton packages cheaper as part of their marketing and bulk purchasing power. You aren't being charged extra by Norton, you are being charged less than RRP by PC World.
gez,
Please don't post the samae question in multiple forums here -- it only confuse replies and makes more work ...
See your other post for additional replies ....
i have just renewed my subscription on line but have found that I can buy a new package cheaper on line. Why is this
Hello gez
Welcome to the Norton Community Forum
Many times you can find Norton products cheaper at other places than the Norton Store. It is perfectly ok to use one of these other sites if they are legitimate sites. The Norton Store can not really sell their products cheaper than these other retail sites. It's mainly for marketing reasons. You can purchase the product else where and then use that key instead. You can request a refund from customer support using the free chat program if you desire to do that. Just don't wait till your product expires.

This is the link for US/Can. If you need a different location, please consult your local Symantec site for the local free chat customer support link.
Please come back and let us know how you made out. Thanks.
If that's on the Norton store .... who knows? Marketing has a left hand and a right hand ?
Depending on where you are located you can often save a lot buy buying a retail package from a legitimate source -- check the weekend flyers of the computer stores -- and use that KEY to renew but if you do do that only apply the new KEY a couple of days before your subscrtiption expires since a new KEY wipes out unexpired days while an on line renewal adds the time on. However it is not unknown for Customer Support to add those days back in if you did it by mistake .....
The reason for the price discrepency between the Norton OnLine Store and retail stores is marketing -- Norton can't undercut its authorized retailers but they can use rebates to effectively cut the price they sell at .....
Hello Hugh
Looks like we posted at about the same time this time.
Great minds ....... you got in first !
Hello
And to top it off, gez has also posted in N360 with the same topic and getting answers there also. This has been happening a few times within the last few days. People are posting in both NIS and N360 with the same questions, but we don't notice it till we go to the N360 Forum section.
We are all together now ... <g>
Prices are all over the map. I bought a copy of 360 V4 Premier on Black Friday from Office Depot with rebates from Symantec that brought the price to close to zero. I bought two copies of 360 V4 for our church from an Internet dealer for the same as the full price for one copy.
Hello Idahoman
Please be careful of the online purchases of software and buy them from a reputable place. I would stay away from sites like eBay for any software which requires a key to use. There have been a lot of burned users in this Forum.
