subscription problem

Hello, i purchased the new Norton 2011 internet security, I had 50 days left on my subscription for the 2010, and I thought i could just load the new one i purchased and it would either simply start with the 1 year and cancel out the 50 days i had left, or i was hoping it would allow me to keep the 50 days and it would simply and smoothly roll over to the 365 days of the new version i bought when those 50 days ran out.  I loaded the software, restarted my computer, and when it opened it was already the 2011, which is fine, i expected that that meant i lost the last 50 days of the older version and would start my year of the new 2011 immediately.  But instead it says i have 50 days remaining, which is wrong either way.  I paid good money and was ok with losing the last 50 days as i really liked the new 2011 and thats why i went out and bought it right now.  But it seems that not only did i lose the 50 days, but somehow it has now only allowed me to have 50 days of the new version....can anyone explain whats happening and how i fix this?
