Subscription problem

I purchased a new Dell computer, so I decided to try Norton Internet Security for the first time. I bought a 3 PC license. I've had to install / reinstall at least twice - because of what was eventually diagnosed as a hardware defect. Dell replaced the hardware, so I went to reinstall again. My subscription says I only have 1 install left. I've only ever had it installed on this desktop, and was planning to also install it on my laptop. I "should" have two installs left - one of which will be my laptop - with one exrtra left over. Did thisproblem and it's reinstalls screw me out of an activation? I really don't want to buy this again.
