Subscription renewed??

I use Norton INTERNET Security on 2 laptops. A windows 10 laptop that I have NIS v22 on and a Vista laptop still using NIS v2 ( I know I need to update this to version 22).

My subscription runs out today 9/14/16. So yesterday I renewed Norton INTERNET Security ( yes they had Internet Security  as an option to renew) from My Windows 10 laptop- clicked the renew link on the Norton control panel ( or whatever they call the GUI these days) which took me to my Norton Account. I logged into my Norton Account and renewed for 1 more year a 3 user license, new subscription good through 9/14/17.  I guess via the renewal process, It had defaulted back to  the automatic renewal option, of which I changed back to off.. After completing all that and logging out, I received an email indicating the purchase of my renewal.  I also received an email indicating that I had cancelled  the automatic renewal service and that it would no longer automatically renew after 9/14/17.

I then went on my windows 10 laptop opened the Norton icon and clicked check my subscription. This connected me to the Norton Server and showed I had 367 days on my subscription.

So all that's great.....except- This morning I received an email from Norton that my subscription expires today and that I will be without protection. Really? I just paid $89 US to renew yesterday. I am not at the laptops to check them. But any idea as to why after renewing my subscription, I receive an email indicating I am without coverage after today?

Is it just an overlapping email?
