Subscription Status: Active

Hi Community,

Yesterday, my NIS subscription was renewed via Automatic Renewal Service. Afterwards I noticed a change on the main UI. Instead of showing days remaining with the added year, instead it displays Subscription Status: Active, in it's place. I've been running NIS since 2007 and usually the number of days were always displayed. I can still find the number of days remaining easy enough, by going to Support / Subscription Status. I was wondering if any other users have this same thing, or if this is new.

I have a couple of screen shots. Thanks in advance ... Ed

Hi Hugh ,

Mine has changed to Active also. Try to run a LiveUpdate and see if it changes!

Edjr60 - mine is the same as yours!

Can you check Support / About for the detailed Version ID which is in the format nn.nn.nn.nnn  where n is a number.

Mine is 19.8.0.14 and it still shows XX days remaining

Hi Hugh,

Yes, when going to Support > About, the version ID is 19.8.0.14. Running LiveUpdate and restarting, the UI remains the same, showing Subscription Status: Active.

I see in the next post, that yank's is the same as mine.

No change -- downloaded 4 updates but none related to the engine/UI

I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit IE 9 .... Black Tuesday updated

This is great! First I had the “active” issue, now it’s back to my old subscription (29 days) in Subscription Status even though I have the email about being charged for the update. Another example of Norton’s NIS 2012 outstanding performance.

I doubt that it is anything to do with NIS 2012 itself since it is not universal and is server dependent.

My guess would be a server problem preventing the actual number of days being downloaded.

Thanks for your input Hugh. I'm going to give this another week or so, before deciding whether or not to mark this off as solved. See if others are having anything similar.

This is very similar to another glitch I had a few months ago after an engine update. Where the UI screen use to always 'flip', when clicking Performance at the top, after that particular update, it no longer flipped. I would get the starburst screen when clicking Performance.

Now, after this recent update to 19.8.0.14, that fixed that. Now I have the flip again :smileyhappy:

Maybe this will resolve itself out. Someone else did post they have the same thing, as far the Active status.

Will hope for the best.

I noticed the “Subscription Status: Active” change also. My taskbar icon changed also…

Thanks Martin101,

I didn't get a taskbar icon change, only the "Subscription Status: Active" change, replacing the "Subscription Status: xx Days Remaining", after my auto renewal.

If this is something new and that's the way it will appear after renewing from now on, fine. I just don't know. I can still easily check my status by Support / Subscription Status. Although it was kind of handy seeing the number of days on the main UI.

Thanks

It's NOT working for everybody. My "Subsrciption Stautus" is still counting down - now 28 days.

Hi garlen,

For your subscription issue(s), did you contact Norton Chat.

 https://www.norton.com/chat

They are good at resolving subscription issues.

This is customer service 101. I have an email saying I’ve been charged, my subscription has not been updated. Norton can update my subscription correctly or we’ll cancel and give someone else a chance. As for Live Chat, i have no interest in talking with Indians, Chinese, Brazilians or other foreigners not covered by our laws and not interested in our privacy. They are a security risk and worse than useless for problems. (I’ve been a Norton customer since the 80s and have tried Chat - the chances of them actually helping are in the negative numbers). Norton seems to be unwilling or unable to do anything right anymore.

It has been awhile, but I'm marking this thread as solved because it is. Also, I'm linking this thread with this one .. NIS 2012 "Subscription status" not showing remaining days anymore because they are both the same exact subject matter.

This dealt with an Active status displaying in place of the days remaining on the GUI. As Symantec employee PieterV explained in this post and again in this one, in the above linked thread, this all has to do if you are enrolled in, and are auto renewed by Nortons Auto Renewal service.

If you have the Active status on your GUI, and would rather have the days remaining to appear as they once did, you would just need to login to your Norton Account and disable the auto renewal option. You would be prompted to renew before expiration time. Plus expiration date is in your account.

Run ... Support > Subscription Status to sync and return the days remaining to the GUI. Sometimes we forget we are automatically enrolled in the renewal service when we renew our subscriptions :smileyembarrassed:
