Succesfull EICAR display with firefox despite NIS 2009

Hello,

I just succesfully displayed the eicar.com.txt file with firefox 3.0.11 on my XP laptop.NIS 2009 (last live update today) didn't notice nor block nor log anything !  I now feel rather unconfortable, because I think that if a virus (test !) file can be displayed, viruses which use buffer overflows and other weaknesses of browser could harm also.  

On the same computer, when trying with eicar.com NIS works fortunately successfully. 

Doing the same tests with IE 8 blocks eicar.com.txt successfully also:  the string is dispayed in IE, but this time NIS notifies that he has intercepted a virus.  

What is wrong with NIS protecting firefox ?
