Dear Forum,
a recent scan has indicated that two files are "infected" by ADWARE.AUREATE
(1) my running iexplorer.exe and
(2) a setup.exe file I have not touched for years (dated 2001, belongs to a 56k modem software package I no longer use) and which was stored in the depths of a NAS.
When I look at Norton's info on Adware.Aureate, I get the fealing that this should actually be a file "advert.dll" or "advertcontrolxcontrol.ocx".
Is it possible that the detection mechanism has produced a false alarm?
How can I make sure?
Thanks for your comments and input,
