I am thinking of upgrading my SuperAntiSpyware from the free version to the paid version. Does anyone know of any problems with it and NIS 2010? The paid version has the resident module the runs in the background. Thanks
Hi, NervousWreck,
If you buy SUPERAntiSpyware, then this will interfer with Norton's Scanners which will reduce your protection, so I would advise you stay with the Free Version; if you do buy it, be sure to Turn Off any Real-Time Protection Scanners.
I agree. If you would use SAS as a on demand scanner it will be enough security
Hello NervousWreck
You can also use the free version of Malwarebytes as an on demand scanner. It will not interfere with your Norton product.
Yup, I already have the free MBAM along side of SAS. I just keep things the way they are for now. Thanks.

Hello,
There are NO conflicts with Norton and SUPERAntiSpyware's real-time protection. We in fact suggest that you run both Norton and SUPERAntiSpyware (or another scanner) together as in today's market a single solution is not enough.

Hello SUPERAntiSpy
May I also run with NO conflicts... Malwarebytes AntiMalware real time protection with Norton and SUPERAntiSpyware's real-time protection.
How many real time security programs may I run with NO conflicts?

For several months i have run MBAM pro realtime with NIS 2010 with no problems at all. I did not even have to add MBAM to my exclusion list.
It seems that problems usually stem from computers with file association issues, tweaked or corrupted registry, non standard programs, etc. and occasionally a corrupted download of NIS or MBAM.
@ thread
Well, this is getting interesting... waiting to read reply from SUPERAntiSpy Nick.

There is No way you will see me running Norton NIS, 360 with another Realtime product like SAS, MBAM, Spybot, Spyware Doctor, AVG, Avast..........................
For many reasons, including resource usage.
I still remember a Guy who I had scripted to remove a TDL2 variant, on the restarts the PC got "stuck" during the process, scratch head time, The thread creator had forgotten to mention that he also had installed Spyware Doctor in Realtime.
So the other realtime products had to be sorted, On top of the Rootkit and other Malware.

I do have the free SAS set to launch at start-up and have had no problems. The reason is in case some malware prevents launching of security software.
SAS Free, is just that, The realtime module is disabled, although the actual systtray icon loads, but with the disabled realtime that won't stop anything, On installing SAS the installation just adds an O4 entry in the registry for that.
"The reason is in case some malware prevents launching of security software."
Yeah, with that comment has any one realised SAS is Security Software??
In the "some" cases the blocking of security software also includes SAS, MBAM, and Spybot etc.
Same goes for MBAM, the free version has the realtime module disabled.
Just wait until some reasonably good Malware happens to infect a PC and the Bunch of realtime products also plays up as a consequence causing more hassles for the user in the attempts to remove and fix what is required.

OK, I'm new to SAS. Are you saying that having the free version launch at start-up serves no purpose? I'm just trying to learn here, not argue.
Hello NervousWreck
I would say just update and run the program when you want to just check up on your computer as a 2nd line of defense. The free version is basically a on demand scanner. Why load up a program before you really need to use it? The same thing with Malwarebytes. Just update it and run it when you want to scan with it.
SAS Free Realtime settings
If You tick "Enable Real-Time Protection" you will be told it's not available ........................................
I suppose the systray Icon gives quick access to starting SAS for a scan, But I removed the systray icon and startup when Windows starts up, I just use the Programs Menu or the Desktop shortcut. to test SAS for it it detects something etc.

Still waiting for any follow up reply from SUPERAntiSpy Nick....
I would add that given how tightly your anti-virus software must integrate itself into your system in order to protect you, two real-time anti-virus programs would view each other as an outright invader and an enemy to be defeated.

Even with as little as I know about computers, I have to agree. NIS 2010 gives my SpyNuker XT a fit every time I forget to turn it off after a scan. Norton blocks it, and REALY tears it up. I usually end up having to delete it and re-install.
