Supporting 64-bit browsers

The Norton toolbar, and other browser components should be able for the 64-bit browsers (IE7 and IE8, Firefox Minefield) as well.

I'd also like to see support for IE8 64 bit.

Thanks Phil_D for pointing me to this thread.

We definitely need native 64 bit support.

Microsoft has already announced that after Windows 7 there will be NO more 32 bit OS's released. 64 bit is the wave of the future.

Totally agree x64 bit should be native from Norton 2012.

Definitely agree. But with the  coming release of Microsoft Office 2010 64 bit there is an even larger need for 64 bit support in all Norton products, sooner rather that later.

Yet Microsoft strongly recommends that users run Office 2010 32bit even on a 64 bit OS and not Office 2010 64 bit..

I have NIS2010 and feel that the Norton toolbar, (and other browser components) should be provided for the IE8 64-bit browser - I am seriously missing the Identity Safe feature in particular.

Thanks for the idea. This is definitely on our radar.

a great idea ........... protection should not have even more limits on paid anti-virus!
I agree totally with this great idea .......... and symantec do !!!!!

I'm in favour of the idea - but I dont feel it should be a priority yet. I've been running 64 bit windows for a while, so have a few friends, but not one of us uses the 64 bit version of the browser. Why? Because too much of the net is broken - despite there having been 64 bit versions of IE about for at least 4 years, there is no flash plugin, and I am fairly sure there are other browser plugins that dont have a 64 bit version either (admittedly, I stopped looking after flash). Until this basic issue is resolved, which is outside of symantec's control, 64 bit browsers are going to have a minority share - so the toolbar will be used by even fewer.

Also, whoever said about windows 7 being the last 32-bit OS is right - but remember that so far all 64 bit OSes have defaulted to a 32 bit browser - I see no reason for this to change anytime soom.

Hello, I should have queo NIS 2011 will support 64-bit browsers (thus would have fewer limits on protection), and this month that IE 9 beta is released (even more with HTML5) will not be many pluings. The use of browsers is expected to increase by 64 bits (I think better on 15 or 16 to release an update symantec support for the new IE beta 9 (32 and 64). After all this protection is paid !!!!!!

Please, Please, Please make identity safe for 64 bit Windows a priority.  So many of us are using 64 bit now, it is a shame not to have this feature.

PLEASE add support for Windows 8 64-bit edition.   It kinda makes my whole upgrade to 64 bit Windows useless if I have to run the 32-bit edition of IE-8.  AND, I am too used to using identity cards to not having them available ... much less all the other Norton protections.

WE NEED IE-8 64 BIT SUPPORT !!!

WE NEED IE-8 64 BIT SUPPORT !!! :)

agree

Please include support for IE8 64 bit for Norton Identity Safe.  I use it daily, and want it in 64 bit!

also agree

quickly Please

Hi Symantec Team,

As there are quite a few people who have 64-bit Win 7 who wish to upgrade to IE9 (from IE8), I request you to make NIS 2011 components w.r.t.  IE9 compatible for 64-bit versions fully functional, as 64-bit OSs are the way forward. I noted a post by Tony Weiss on the same and I believe Symantec will release a hotfix (similar to a hotfix for FF4 released recently) for IE9 sometime in May 2011. Hope that project is on schedule !

Regards,
