Suspend Norton

How do I suspend Norton 360/Lifelock?  Something it is supposed to protect me from, it did itself.  It wrote to my HDD without my permission.

My wife bought Lifelock, it installed, and then became Norton. That was a few months ago.  I just now set that computer aside and then set up for her one that was previously mine.  Both run Win 7.

I was not finished with setup, but let her boot and access the WEB.  Then I tried to do additional maintenance, and Norton was blocking my actions - it does not like my utilities.  I tried satisfying Norton, and then it hit me.  How did Norton get on this machine???!!!  And how am I ever going to do maintenance?

So, how did Norton get on this machine?

If I am able to suspend Norton, then it can live here.

I see two entries in Task Manager, and it will not let me stop either one.

If I delete and recreate the boot partition, and keep it off the WEB, I should be able to complete the current setup, but what about the future when I want to change something, if Norton is able to find a customer on a new machine, and reinstall?  Perhaps when the subscription expires Norton will go away.

So, can I suspend Norton, or am I stuck dealing with an alien force?

Thank you, I thought as much, will download the norton removal tool and try and sort it later when I have time to scream at the PC for an hour or so!smiley

No. You cannot suspend all Norton without uninstalling. If you were able to disable it, so could malware if it managed to get to your system.
