BTW forgot to thank you floatingred, appreciate any help.
Also for anyone else.....
This particular error doesn't come up on google or yahoo. New threat?
Again any help is appreciated.
You're welcome.
Please check your Logs to see if there is any un-usual activity and, if you have a possible Virus Sample, i.e. you do notice un-usual activity, Submit it to symantec Security Response via this Web Link: http://www.symantec.com/business/security_response/submitsamples.jsp
Unfortunately, it does not show up as a virus. Now when I did a search, svchost.exe show all cases of svchost under a windows program. According what I found around from a quick search is that these 6 are legit. Unfortunately, although I can find a lot of threads on various boards abour the legitimacy of svchost.exe in prefetch files, I found nothing related to NIS.
Yet still the NIS keeps popping up giving the same message as my Orig Post.
I attempted to search the database and this board but could not find a solution. I apologize in advance if it's a repeat.
I recently installed a windows update, and since then I get the following NIS Program alert:
"svchost.exe is attempting to listen for connections from other computers". I attempted to choose "Always allow" and I did but it keeps popping up.
Please advise a fix.
Thanks in advance!
Also, I tried manually quanrantining it but it says I can't because the file's in use.
If you are sure these are Safe - could a Norton Staff confirm this? - then do this: Open Norton Product > Click N.I.S. tab > Settings > N.I.S. Options > Exclusions > Exclude from Auto-Protect > Enter the Files/Folders.
Let me know me know how it goes.
Thanks again. So can anyone at Norton confirm or assist on this? I'm able to use everything fine (so far).
Also anyone else have ideas on this?
Or...
I actually live a few blocks from Symantec's new Culver City office. Should I go banging on their door? LOL
From the shot you made I really can’t see any thing dangerous. Sometimes a virus comes up called as"scvhost" looks the same but is different
This seems very odd.
What Windows O.S. are you using, along with what S.P.?
I would not Allow this un-til it is confirmed what it is and whether or not it is safe.
