We are having problems with our Norton Secure VPN in Sweden.
We have used Norton 360 as virus protection for all these years without problems, it has worked perfectly. We added Norton Secure VPN two years ago. It hasn't felt as stable but we've put up with it.
Yesterday something strange happened in our VPN, we discovered that Region Sweden chose to show Russia and the Russian flag. When I chose to set it to Automatic region, it also shows Russia. This is very strange because Norton VPN does not even offer Russia as an optional regional choice in our VPN. The computer's regional setting is Sweden. We chose to uninstall the VPN program and installed it again but the same thing happens.
The IP addresses under the Russian flag lead to a Swedish network provider.
We have searched online but cannot find a thread with a similar problem.
We submitted a support case to Norton 240321 and described the problem. After that we got chat support but nothing went further.
They were unable to explain or resolve this despite checking our settings.
They quite stressfully wanted remote access to our computer but we felt insecure when he asked for contact information that they should have access to through our account with them, so we denied this.
We perceive this as a problem at Norton central, which in that case is worrying because this is a security company. Support provided contradictory information. I copypaste from chatlog: "Support says: This is not in your device." A moment later Support says: "I'm sorry to inform you but Sweden VPN works fine"...
So a Catch 22.
Has anyone else experienced the same problem?
Thanks for the response. Then there are several of us who gets Russia, when we have chosen the region Sweden.
It seems that Norton has started working on the problem. The last two days it has jumped between the Russian and Swedish regions. We are still experiencing disturbances in the region of Sweden. Sometimes Norton manages to remove the Russian flag but with an IP number that doesn't work. We completely lose connection to the network with this ip number. Region Sweden is also as tough as chewing gum when I try to choose it.
I live in Sweden and have experienced exactly the same thing. I couldn't even contact Norton to get their feedback on what is going on, as the message I received was "contact your internet operator". Quite frustrating and I must say, scary...
Thanks for feedback. Maybe our versions differ depending on which country we live in.
My version in Sweden looks like your first picture "standalone", see my attached picture at the start of the thread.
On your second picture, it looks as if you have selected the region Sweden, but it indicates that it looks to others as if you are in Russia. If so, it's very similar to the error in my VPN.
I'm trying to figure out if this is a local bug in my computer or the VPN or if it's a Norton error in general.
It would be interesting if more VPN users in different countries could check if it looks the same when they select the region Sweden in their VPN.
Hi We have had Norton for about 20 years. From the beginning, we thought Norton antivirus was enough. But in recent years we have expanded with VPN. In our subscription, there are different parts that you can choose yourself and pay extra for.
Okay...my Norton 360 subscription includes Secure VPN - either built-in or standalone
