I keep getting a report from Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) that it has found and deleted a tracking cookie.
Filename->"unavailable", ...Action->"deleted", ... Original Location->"unavailable.
It doesn't provide any information on the cookie whatsoever ... I'm convinced it's a bug now.
This entry pops up on every full scan. I have run back to back scans without restarting and with my wireless antenna disabled so that it doesn't get onto the internet unknowingly. It shows the same entry.
I've used malwarebytes and spybot search and destroy. They've not found anything.
Finally, suspecting that I may have a mebroot variant (a bootsector virus), I disabled system restore (which is still disabled) and ran fixmbr via the windows repair console using the xp disk.
So what's up? Is this a bug? I really will be unhappy If I wipe my computer and this is just some type of bug and if it's not can anyone tell me why the original location and filename of this cookie is listed as "unavailable"? Shouldn't it at lease be able to tell me what and from where the file was deleted?
