Ever since I installed Norton on my Mac - Norton Ativirus 12.5, my log files are literally spammed with the following entries:

Now I understand Norton would like error reporting daemon to send reports to their server BUT I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE with raports with random data which I don't control to be leaving my computer without my knowledge, or explicit choice.
Besides, those reports are going out at random times, I work often via 3G connections and don't like the fact that Norton reports are using my bandwidth.
I Googled for quite a bit after a solution to stop those reports but I have not found anything. Hence my first question - does anyone know how to stop those reports or what is the recommended and supported by Norton solution to stop those reports from being sent to Norton?
My second question is regarding automatic updates, again I work often via 3G / LTE connection which is priced by data transferred and those updates are kicking in at random times, in background, without my explicit permission or choice. Is there any way to disable automatic updates and switch over to manual updates?
I'll appreciate someone from Norton support to chip in as I've seen multiple posts with similar questions asked yet no answers. I feel a bit disappointed that there's so much stuff going on behind the scenes which we - users - have no easy control over. Norton products should provide confidence and peace of mind and quite frankly, with all the stuff going in background I don't feel confident at all while running Norton products at the moment.
