Symantec Norton ghost 15 Recovery Disc can not recognize any drive

Hello, I am new here on this Platform and from Germany. It's not clear if you are Talking about "making backups" or repair with the Recovery Disc the System. Then that's my Problem when booting with SRD the Backup Drive can be found but Not the Target Drive (OS windows 7.1) at an older System Where I've deleted the oem and the Recovery Partition from Dell NG15 Workshop well. So please tell me if the Problem is my be the Same or there is something different. Partition Magic 8 is too old and it works no more. Thanks for any help Martin

Sorry, but I have to additionally clarify something. When I installed Ghost 15 I got 2 error messages. E1ADB8c4 [UMI: V-0 429-47300] and [MSInstallerVSSProvider function]. When I made backup's I had no problems, but when a restore attempt no OS was found drive. With the new Symantec Recovery disc in 2013 when restore attempt no OS was found. Also, I could not install with Browser.exe. So what's wrong with my Dell Inspiron 7520 2012/08 happened? I have not changed any partition. I really need help, because without instructions, I can certainly make no change. Thank you for your attention and help. Martin

Martin,

Could you please attach a pic of your disk management, right click computer and click manage and then disk management, we need to know how the main drive is configured.

Because it is a Dell it tends to be a bit more "Complicated".

Have you made a full backup of your computer (a .V2i file) and run the recovery point browser to verify the file?

Please go here:

Download the top driver "AHCI_Intel_W7_W8_A04_setup-V2JTD_ZPE.exe"

That file is actually a zip file, open it up with a program like winzip, winrar, or 7-zip.

If you don't have a compression program you may be able to rename the extention from .exe to .zip and open it in windows.

You want the folder called "f6flpy-x86", put that folder on a flash drive or external drive that the recovery disk can access.

Then boot the recovery disk and go to Utilites > Load a Driver

Browse to the location of that folder, you will find 2 drivers inside it, try loading both one at a time.

Then go to Analyze > Explorer my Computer and see if you can now "see" the hard drives.

If you can you can make a custom recovery disk and add those drivers to it.

That download page says it's for windows 7 and 8 but I have read the inf files and it also will support 32bit Vista, what the recovery disk is based on.

Hello Deric, thanks for your answer, here I send the disk manager.
I also made a test with Symantec Recovery 2013 to examine the system,as I could see there are no faults, but

it's an SRD only (without install)

regards

Hi Dave, thank you very much to your help!! I followed your instructions exactly and when I tested with additional drivers I've seen my OS. So I created a CD with the two drivers and now I can boot Wonderful. Unfortunately I had to reinstall Ghost. "MSIInstallVSSProvider function" is missing: With a error message EBAB03F1. OS-fault [20147.754.774] In the proposed Command prompt solution I've still problems? Also, I can not save "selected folders and files"

Greetings and many thanks again.

Hi DStein, the Problem is resolved bei DaveH Super Phishing Phryer Super Phishing Phryer => the Problem what I still (ore new) have is

I'm glad the driver worked, it not good having Ghost if you can't use the recovery disk.

As for the other error, it's an error in the volume shadow copy.

Open a command prompt and type:

vssadmin list providers

You should see 2 listed, 'Symantec Software VSS Provider' and 'MS Software Shadow Copy provider 1.0'

If your missing the Symantec VSS, try going into the Ghost program folder and run "Fixinstall.bat".

Dave

Hi Dave, Thanks for your reply => The SRD CD works correctly. If I want to back up the entire disc, there is also no problem. If I want to backup "my documents", this is not possible and I get the following error message

EC8F1C50 error: file backup can not be created for job: File Backup.
E7B70005 Error: Snapshot error Error EBAB03F1: OS error 2147754774 .. (UMI: V-281-3215-7248)

At the command line "vssadmin list providers" there is only the MS Shadow Copy writer, and no VSS

Here are some controlls:
https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/kb20091211072335EN_EndUserProfile_en_us?q=EBAB03F1

=> At the command prompt "-register" is not found.
"Fixinstall.bat" is this also for command prompt?????

at regedit:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Content Index \ Catalogs

=> there are no catalogs available?

regards Martin

Hi Dave, I have NG 15 uninstalled, cleaned with Norton Removal Tool and reinstalled Ghost. Still no MSIInstallVSS provider function supplied. When I try to install after this explanation,

https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/kb20091211072335EN_EndUserProfile_en_us?q=EBAB03F1

The VSSProvider Function By hand, at the command prompt => "-unregister" and "-register" are not found!

Maybe You have for solving a different idea for this problem.

Martin
