Hello Kah2163,
I'm sorry to hear about the startup Framework errors. Can you verify whether you have the Add-On Pack installed? If you do, try uninstalling to confirm that it is the problem and then post back and let us know.
Thanks,
Matt
Matt,
I'm getting the same "Symantec Service Framework Encountered a problem and has to close down " error with my NIS2008 and tried your suggestion of uninstalling the Add-On and it fix the problem. So it does seems to be related to the add-on and unistalling it temporarily fix the issue. But is there a premanent fix for this? I would like to turn back on the parental control and spam filter features in the add-on.
Thanks,
Adie
Hi Adie,
I believe that you can resolve the version of this problem associated with the Add-On pack by ensuring that you have the all the latest program updates prior to installing AOP. There are several ways to accomplish this, but I'd recommend running LUALL from the command prompt (Click the Start button, select Run and type "LUALL" without the quotation marks, then click OK). You may need to do this a few times and there may be a reboot involved, depending on what version you are on now. If you run LUALL and no updates are available, you should be good to go with reinstalling AOP.
Let us know how it goes,
Matt
Hi Matt..Im having the same Framework error. Im not computor savy so would you be able guide me where to find that add on to uninstall ? Thanks so much!
Deborah
Hi WndWhspers,
I'm sorry to hear that you are also experiencing problems with Service Framework errors. The most common resolution to the myriad of causes associated with this error is to uninstall and reinstall the program. I will assume that you are using Norton 360 Version 2. If that is the case, please follow the instructions in this document for how to complete the process.
Please post back here and let us know how it goes and thanks for posting!
Matt
I have recently replaced a McAfee VirusScan installation with 360 as I have used this for some time but this did not detect a spyware infection and the symantec process crashes with this same error. The infection appear to be a Trojan dropper and it left CKDS16.DLL as a RUNDLL32 init and an IE add-on after a VirusScan detection removed some viruses. I have manually removed these for now as doing that I no longer get computer under attack and Antispy Knight popups, I tried four different AV products including 360 and Ad-Aware without this being detected
I have run the removal tool and reinstalled also run LUALL none of which has helped. My past 360 installs have all beeen prior to XP SP3 and they all went in easily could this be related.
When I do run LUALL it runs silently and I do not get to see the prompts or actions, I can see it in the process list but it seems to be idle.
Next step will be to rebuild the PC if you have no suggestion
Dear Kath2163,
I faced same issue about Norton 360 v2 and Norton Add-on pack too, My platform is Vista business SP1. Once I installed Norton Add-on pack integrated with Norton 360 v2, I always face the "Symantec service framework" down message and computer performance became poor. If I removed the Add-on pack. the computer is stable and never meet the "Symantec service fromework down" error message. Kindly need Norton support service team to solve the issue.
Thank and best regards,
Andy
