I had used NAV for15 years straight. I had used another firewall program during that time. I went with Internet Security a year ago.
When NAV expired, it just stopped updating. I would upgrade within a week or so.
Whe Internet Security exprired last week, it just shut down totally--no protection.
The program sent some popup with a message for me to to update.
I clicked and it said the price was $95. I didn't read all the fine print, but I understand that was for 2 years. Whatever.
I went and bought a copy of Internet Security for half that price.
In the meantime I got a bad infection.
The computer won't boot.
Both c: and d: were bootable. Two different drives. I put operating systems on both in case one went down.
When c: went out, there was no keyboard after BIOS loaded.
I could use the keyboard to get into BIOS.
So I changed the boot order and went to D:
D: loaded windows 7, but internet security would not install. nothing would load. nothing worked.
now D: is in the same shape as C;
I talked with a norton case manager last night and he told me to boot from the CD. Is there any way to boot from the cd drive if the keyboard does not work--you have to hit a key. (at the time I talked to this guy, I believed that they keyboard worked on d:.)
So I call back to today to see if anybody has any other ideas and I get tech support. And the tech asked why I was calling. I told him to read what it said.
All it said was that I was calling to complain about pricing. Well, no, that wasn't why I was calling.
If anybody has any ideas I would appreciate it.
Oh, as far as how I know this a virus:
1. norton internet security said it was providing no protection.
2. i saw an antispyware icon pop up on my computer.
Thanks
